Sub Swara’s Balkan Beat Box Remix

When Balkan Beatbox asked us to remix one of the tunes off their brand new album, we were thrilled. They’re one of our favorite bands and anyone who’s seen them live knows that their energy is relentless. We flipped the horns into bizarro world and injected a big lo freq tom riddim-driven push into the jam and laced it with a live surf rock drum break (amongst many other twists and turns). Yup.

Well spring is in full swing here in NYC. It’s 80 degrees in April and we’re hittin’ the rooftops. So we felt that it was high time that we make our refix of Stephen Marley’s summertime anthem, ‘Traffic Jam’, available for free and general consumption. It’s been a classic in our sets for a good ol’ while and now it’s yours…

And with spring and summer upon us, that means we’re on the road a whole lot so check the shows section for the latest.

We’re in Boulder at the Fox Theater with our pals, EOTO, this coming weekend and then we have a 3-city run through Western Canada the following weekend with shows along side great artists like Poirier, RSD (Rob Smith from Smith and Mighty), and more.

Sub Swara Video Blog: Winter gigs and recordings

Whattup people!  Dave here with the lowdown on what’s going on in the Sub Swara camp as the snows melt around us and some of the material that Dhruva recorded in the last episode gets crafted into songs.  check it out (and peep the super-high-tech chair spin):

And check the evolution– we had Hired Gun flipping vox in one of the first vids, percussion recorded in India in the 2nd, and then the 2 get put together in the 3rd. Always a blast melding new sounds into newer songs.
